Sometimes, just sometimes, an idea that shouldn’t work does. And everyone is grateful for it. Step forward artist Luke Jerram who had the idea of putting a water slide down Park Street in Bristol – one of the busiest shopping streets in the city. Everyone loved the idea, enough so that they crowd funded it. Then, as part of Mayor George Ferguson’s Sunday Streets drive, Park Street was to be closed for the public to enjoy. So it was to be – 300 people, 400 hay bales, copious amounts of washing-up liquid and a 90 metre water slide.
