Adrian Utley for Guitarist

I photographed Adrian, known for his work with Portishead and the Electric Guitar Orchestra, in his studio in Bristol a couple of months ago for Guitarist magazine. The feature and interview discussed his work and recording life. This portrait was actually shot right at the end of our time with him, I’d seen this gap and thought it’d make a nice frame around Adrian but put it to the back of my mind as less of a priority. Guitarist ended up running the portrait so perhaps I should’ve trusted my hunch after all. Shot with natural light (for once).
