And back to Bespoked. And this build from Kabuff Cycles.
Bikes (bicycles, push bikes) straddle the worlds of practicality and aesthetics in a neat way. A bike can be beautiful because of its practicality, a feeling that will come more from a cyclist I’d imagine. The Kabuff stand had a few builds and, if I’m honest, this was probably the least superficially interesting of the collection. But the backstory is beautiful and probably speaks more about the role of bike than anything else. The owner of the bike is a retired lady who, for various reasons, has had to give up her car and driving. She wanted a bike that would allow her to retain her independence – both as a mode of transport but allowing her to carry things. The build is such that the rider is very upright with swept handlebars, a comfortable riding position set for confidence over speed.
The beauty in this bike is what it allows the rider to do. To keep on doing. It’s a bike that is, fundamentally, everything a bike should be.
