I love wood. I grew up surrounded by woods of various species and ages and a large period of my childhood was spent in, up, or around trees. I love how, as a construction material, it is so versatile and brings an organic quality.
I haven’t been sold on it as a material for bikes however. Prior to meeting this Woodalps hardtail I’ve found wooden bikes to be heavy and visually unforgiving. Woodalps have managed to make a wooden framed bike that is neither of these things. The way the ‘tubes’ all flow together is beautiful and, through clever engineering, it weighs not much more than a standard alloy hardtail.
