This was a bit of throwback for me. I first really got into photography in the late 90s photographing friends riding downhill and BMX in a small Welsh town. Despite working for clients in the cycling industry it had been a while since I covered a race (especially one with a handful of runs in glorious Welsh weather).

But this is the Red Bull Hardline. So I couldn’t say no – plus I’d actually looked at the race a few weeks before and wondered about heading up to Snowdonia anyway to shoot it.

I raced for a while in my early 20s and there’s nothing like a watching elite level riders to make you realise how far away you are/were from turning professional!
