Cyclocross seems like something I could get into. Short races where the objective is to lap as many times as possible. I'd just have to ignore the fact I've rarely ridden for more than twenty minutes in one go recently. I joined Cycling Plus's editor-in-chief Rob last winter as he took on his first cyclocross race. It was sunny, warm, cold, rainy and muddy. Wales shone and soaked in equal measures. The racing looked fun - a meandering (depending on your fitness levels) loop sandwiched between river and forest - but the community was better. Families mingled with riders and the local scout hall doubled as a registration post and impressively stocked homemade cake shop. I decided that the riding may be a bit beyond me. Cakes however, not so much.
